A 23-year-old man accused of burglarizing a mobile home early this morning heard a commotion outside so he peeked through a window.
What Steven D. Branesky saw was Pinellas County sheriff's deputies gathering on the front yard, asking him to give up and come out, authorities say.
Branesky had other ideas.
He ducked back inside and tried to find a hiding spot in the trailer he was accused of breaking into, deputies say.
After repeated requests, deputies sent a police dog named Valor into the mobile home to sniff out Branesky.
Branesky was arrested about 3 a.m. today at the Club Chalet mobile home park, 7880 54th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. Deputies were called to the park by a resident who saw someone moving inside the mobile home. The owner of the home was out of town.
Deputies say Branesky has broken into at least three other homes at Club Chalet.
Branesky, of 49th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, was charged with three counts of burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools. He is being held today on $40,000 bail at Pinellas County Jail.
