Three people accused of hitting police horses were rounded up by mounted patrol officers Saturday night in Ybor City.
Michael Moore Bolanis, 36, Detrick Adelious Epps, 33, and Thomas Schuster, 50, were arrested and each charged with striking a police animal, Tampa police said.
Schuster, a resident of Michigan, was arrested on Seventh Avenue about 1 a.m. after he struck a police horse on the hindquarter as it passed him, a report states. Police say Schuster wanted to spook the horse.
He was being held at Orient Road Jail on Sunday night with bail set at $500.
Bolanis, of Washington, D.C., also charged with disorderly conduct. He was released from Orient Road Jail on Sunday after posting $500 bail.
Epps of Virginia was additionally charged with opposing a police officer with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer and criminal mischief. He was released from Orient Road Jail on Sunday after posting $4,750 bail.
On Friday, Trey Mathew Palmer, 19, of Tampa, was arrested in Ybor on charges of striking a police animal.
Palmer was released from Orient Road Jail on Saturday after posting $500 bail.
