A Tampa man struck his roommate in the head with a 3-foot metal cane Thursday afternoon, causing a 2 1/2-inch gash above the roommate's left eye, Tampa police say.
Officers arrested James R. Vonn, 59, of Tampa at 1:51 p.m. Thursday. He was charged with aggravated battery.
Vonn left the scene after striking his roommate, but he was arrested nearby, officers say. Vonn told police he had lost his temper with his roommate and was sorry, according to a criminal arrest affidavit.
Vonn remained in Falkenburg Road Jail today. His bail was set at $7,500.
