A 44-year-old man was killed while attempting to ride his bicycle across U.S. 41 in Pasco County this afternoon.
Michael D. Tuten tried to cross the highway from Lake Patience Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. However, he biked into the path of a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Derek R. Fernandez, 23, of Land O' Lakes, the highway patrol said. Tuten died at the scene.
The crash, which happened at 1:38 p.m., obstructed traffic for a couple of hours. The highway patrol was investigating Thursday.
