Special Harris and fellow 13-year-old student Deshayla Owens had an ongoing feud, police say. It's not immediately clear what the feud was over.
Owens came to Franklin Middle School, 3915 E. 21st Ave., trying to confront Harris once school let out, a Tampa Police Department news release states. Owens confronted Harris near North 36th Street and East 21st Avenue, and they fought.
"During the fight, the defendant armed herself with a kitchen type paring knife that had been kept in her bookbag and stabbed the victim multiple times," a release states.
Harris had at least two wounds to her abdomen and more on her hands and arms. She is "in stable, non-life threatening condition at Tampa General Hospital and may have potential injury to internal organs," according to the release.
Owens was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. She has been charged with attempted murder, according to the release.
