A Clearwater man was killed today in a motorcycle accident in Dunedin, Pinellas County police said.
James T. Johnston, 28, of 1010 Beckett St. in Clearwater, died about 3:30 a.m. this morning at Bayfront Medical Center. He worked at Vertex Business Services in Tampa.
Witnesses said Johnston was traveling south on Edgewater Drive in Dunedin about 2 a.m. on a green 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle. Near the intersection of Edgewater and Locklie Street, Johnston passed another southbound vehicle and attempted to swerve away from the path of a northbound vehicle.
Police said his motorcycle hit a curb; he was ejected and hit a palm tree.
Johnston was wearing a helmet, police said.
