Toddler in serious condition after near-drowning

ST. PETERSBURG --

A 2-year-old boy remains hospitalized in serious condition after being found at the bottom of a pool during a party.

Lt. Joel Granata of the St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said emergency personnel responded to a call at 827 63rd Ave. S. at about 3 p.m. today.

He said bystanders had already pulled the boy out of the water and were attempting to resuscitate him.

"Bystander CPR is invaluable," Granata said. "It contributed to a good outcome."

Granata said paramedics performed CPR and used oxygen to revive the boy. He was taken to All Children's Hospital.
