Overnight fire damages South Tampa house

TAMPA --

A fire in South Tampa overnight burned a garage and caused smoke damage to a home at 4711 W. Fair Oaks Ave., according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Fire crews responded to the blaze shortly before 2:30 this morning.

The home's residents weren't injured and will be staying with neighbors, Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Bill Wade said.

No damage estimate was immediately available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
