Pinellas County deputies remain at the scene of a fatal crash today at Tampa Road near the railroad tracks at State Road 580 (State Street West).
Deputies said the crash occurred at 9:46 a.m. today. The westbound lanes of Tampa Road remained closed this afternoon so deputies can conduct the investigation. Train traffic on the tracks was also closed.
One male was killed in the single-vehicle crash, deputies said, and rescue personnel continued this afternoon to extricate the body from the wreckage.
The name of the victim was not immediately available. Next of kin had not been notified as of early this afternoon, deputies said.
