The man accused of fatally shooting someone outside a Citgo gas station Wednesday might be en route to Columbia, S.C., where he has ties, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies also are actively looking for him in Hillsborough County.
Christopher Grim, 19, is wanted on a second-degree murder charge.
Richland County's sheriff asked the public to report any sightings of Grim, who grew up in South Carolina and attended high school there, according to The State newspaper.
Grim was identified as the shooter by the victim, Anthony J. Prather.
Prather told a witness and a deputy, "Chris shot me. He is the last one who called my cell phone," a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release states.
The incident was captured on video. Grim's fingerprints matched a print on Prather's car, Hillsborough deputies say. Deputies determined a call was made from Grim's phone to Prather's phone three minutes before Prather exited his car with a gunshot wound to the neck.
The shooting, which occurred at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday on East Fletcher Avenue, was likely drug-related, deputies said. Prather drove to the gas station. Shortly after, deputies said, Grim walked to the car and entered it. Shots were fired inside the car, and Grim ran south on 23rd Street.
Prather got out of the car and walked to the front of the gas station, where he collapsed. Prather died at Tampa General Hospital.
Grim is white and 5 feet 1 inch tall with brown eyes and black hair.
He might be driving a beige 2005 Lincoln car with Florida license plate T178ED, according to The State.
