A 20-year-old St. Petersburg man driving a car at a "very high rate of speed" lost control of the vehicle, and he and two passengers were injured as a result.
At about 2:25 p.m. Sunday, the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Nathan Anthony Williams continued going straight in the 4500 block of 15th Avenue South, even though the roadway jogs a bit, St. Petersburg police said. The vehicle went out of control, becoming airborne and striking two trees.
Williams and his two passengers - Javantee Rashed Ross, 22, and Deontae Ramon Ross, 20, both of St. Petersburg - were transported to Bayfront Medical Center in serious condition, but their conditions have since been upgraded, police said.
An investigation is still under way.
