A customer who had just left a pharmacy was shot during a robbery Tuesday, with the suspect demanding his prescribed medication, police say.
The customer, identified as Gordon Kendrick, 28, of St. Petersburg, tried running back into Trinity Pharmacy to avoid being robbed, when the gunman fired one round. The bullet went through Kendrick's leg and struck the pharmacy, according to Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
Kendrick was taken to Morton Plant Hospital following the 4:46 p.m. hold-up at 1474 S. Belcher Road, and was in stable condition, Watts said.
Investigators followed up on several investigative leads and identified the shooter as Ryan L. Holmberg, 22, of Palm Harbor, Watts said. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Investigators say they also identified two accomplices. Both -- Sean M. Perry, 25, of Clearwater, and Daniel C. Kane, 21, of Tampa - were charged with being the principal to a robbery.
At least one of the suspects knew the victim, Watts said.
