A Tampa man was arrested over the weekend after he fired a .22-caliber handgun in his home without checking to see whether there were any bullets in the firearm - and one of the bullets fired and lodged itself in a friend's belt, according to jail records.
Saul Reyes, 19, was charged with culpable negligence and using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, the affidavits say. He had consumed six beers before accidentally firing the gun at 1 a.m. Saturday, arrest affidavits say.
The victim suffered a superficial wound to his upper buttocks, the affidavits say.
