Authorities arrested a 74-year-old grandmother in Clearwater today on charges she killed her granddaughter's estranged husband in Illinois nearly a year ago.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies arrested Shirley Skinner without incident after she and her family left a Clearwater restaurant around 5 p.m. She was arrested on an Illinois warrant.
Skinner is accused of shooting and killing Steven Watkins in Ashland, Ill., in November 2008 and then leaving the state.
Other family members with Skinner when she was arrested included her granddaughter, Jennifer Watkins, 31; Watkins' 1-year-old daughter, Sidney; Skinner's grandson, Joshua Webster, 26.
The family lives in Seminole.
