Two suspects in a string of Manatee County burglaries have been detained, but two others remain on the loose following a high-speed chase today, troopers say.
This morning, a trooper tried to stop a white Buick Century on Interstate 75 at mile marker 236 near the Manatee County line. The Buick's windows had too dark of a tint, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Larry Kraus said.
The Buick sped away and the chase led investigators along I-75, onto Interstate 4 and then to 32nd Avenue. The Buick ended up in shrubbery in front of the New Testament Worship Center at 32nd Avenue and Phillips Street in the Grant Park area.
A trooper's car hit one suspect, who was taken into custody and is being treated at Tampa General Hospital, Kraus said. A second suspect was arrested nearby.
Investigators say they recovered stolen items from the Buick, including computers.
