Police say they nabbed a 47-year-old Tampa man in the act of committing a break-in Monday, and have since linked him to six burglaries.
Tyrone Tillman, of 1715 St. John St., is charged with six counts of burglary, six counts of grand theft and one count each of possession of burglary tools and possession of cocaine, said Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
On Monday, patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress at 129 Marina Del Ray Court. Tillman was inside when they arrived, and he was arrested as he tried to run out a back door, Watts said.
Investigators found several stolen items, including flat-screen televisions, along with 21.2 grams of crack cocaine in his 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, Watts said.
From Friday through Monday, police said, Tillman also broke into homes at: 67 Winward Isle; 1655 Lee Road; 1451 S. Gulf Blvd., Nos. 111 and 112; and 161 Brightwater Drive, Unit 8, all in Clearwater.
