A Pinellas Park couple were arrested this morning after authorities say the husband tried robbing a gas station convenience store in Dunedin while his wife waited in the getaway car with their 2-year-old daughter.
Rachel A. Buchner-Johnson, 24, and Marc D. Johnson, 23, both of 6206 92nd Place N., are each charged with one count of armed robbery, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
The couple drove to a Chevron station at 2198 Main St. just before 4 a.m., the sheriff's office said. Marc Johnson walked in and aimed what looked like a handgun at the clerk's head, deputies said. The weapon was actually a plastic toy pellet pistol.
An alarm went off, and Marc Johnson ran off without any money and hopped into the getaway vehicle, the sheriff's office said. He and his wife were arrested within a couple of blocks.
Child protection investigators with the sheriff's office took the child into custody.
