A 24-year-old St. Petersburg man was arrested Thursday evening on charges he was stalking an 11-year-old girl, apparently waiting for her at her school bus stop.
Luis Alberto Colon was charged with aggravated stalking of a child. He was being held without bail at the Pinellas County Jail.
According to an arrest affidavit, Colon followed the girl in the morning as she walked to her school bus stop and harassed her. He would also wait for her bus to drop her off. He was also seen circling a nearby park in his car as he waited for her, the affidavit says.
The stalking occurred in the vicinity of Gladden Park, at 27th Avenue North and 37th Street, St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa said. The girl also lives in that neighborhood.
