With opening day around the corner, the mayors of St. Petersburg, Tampa and Clearwater and other local politicians are lining up to support the Tampa Bay Rays.
St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster said he, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio, Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard, Hillsborough County Commission Chairman Ken Hagan and Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala will shoot a public service announcement at Tropicana Field Friday.
The idea is to encourage locals to support the baseball team, which opens its season at home Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. The city of St. Petersburg is producing the PSA, and Foster said he's not sure yet when or where it will air.
