An Avon Park man allegedly found an illegal way to fill his free time and was arrested Thursday for making 218 false calls to 911 dispatchers over three non-consecutive days.
Timothy Todd Lawrence, 31, of 2376 N. Highlands Blvd., Avon Park, was served a warrant charging him with the misdemeanor counts. He remained in the Highlands County Jail Friday under a $109,000 bond.
On Feb. 13, between 2 and 10:52 a.m., Lawrence is said to have made 151 calls to the 911 center at the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, according to the arrest report. He would only talk to female dispatchers and made sexually explicit remarks to them.
"When the female dispatchers would inquire if the unidentified caller needed emergency assistance, the caller would state, 'no,'" the arrest report stated.
This same pattern continued on Feb. 15, when Lawrence reportedly made 35 911 calls between 1:53 and 8:07 a.m. Thirty-three more calls came between 10:43 a.m. and 1:34 p.m. on Feb. 20, the report stated.
Investigators were able to conduct a search with the Feb. 20 calls and found a location near Lawrence's listed address.
Highlands County Sheriff's Investigator Bob Neale was the reporting officer and Deputy Ernest Gelinas made the arrest.
