A 20-year-old Riverview man slapped a police horse in Ybor City, police say.
Officers arrested Marcell Douglas following the incident early Sunday at Seventh Avenue and 15th Street.
An officer riding Chad, a police horse, was clearing streets of pedestrian traffic about 3 a.m. Sunday when Douglas slapped the horse on the right-rear flank, according to an arrest report.
Douglas told the officer that he touched the horse but didn't slap the animal, the report states.
Douglas was charged with offenses against police animals. He was released from jail on $500 bail.
