Bobby Lee Black III will serve six consecutive life sentences in prison.
The 21-year-old Zephyrhills man was given three more life sentences by Circuit Judge Pat Siracusa on today on charges of home invasion-robbery, kidnapping and sexual battery. Black also was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older and five years for grand theft auto.
The case involved a 68-year-old woman who was raped, put into her minivan and forced to withdraw money from her bank account. She was then driven to an old quarry, where two suspects pushed her in, then the van in after her.
In September, Siracusa sentenced Black to three life sentences in the case of a 66-year-old woman who was raped after her mobile home was broken into. A knife was held to her throat, and her rosary beads, camera and keys were stolen. As her assailants left, she was kicked in the face.
Black's DNA was found on that victim. Investigators say Jathniel McMichael, 20, was with Black during both crimes, but a trial date has not yet been set; McMichael also faces a possible life sentence.
A third man, Andre Brathwaite, is accused of driving Black and McMichael to the attack on the 66-year-old victim, but a trial has not been scheduled. Both crimes were committed in March 2007.
The 68-year-old victim later suffered a stroke, while the other victim has moved out of state.
At a September trial, John Laycock, a victim advocate with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, read a statement on behalf of the 66-year-old victim.
"She is suffering terribly emotionally," he told Siracusa. "She is saying a prayer for Bobby Black and his parents every day."
