The search for the killer of two Tampa police officers entered its third day today. Here is a list of other Florida police shootings where capture was delayed.
Jan. 8, 2008: Miami detective James Walker was shot and killed. Six days later, Andrew James Rolle was arrested and charged with the murder. He is awaiting trial.
Oct. 4, 2007: Off-duty Orlando police officer Alfred Gordon was shot and killed after removing money from an ATM. Two days later, Davin Smith and Hugo Terry were arrested and charged in the robbery and murder. Smith and Terry were both later sentenced to life in prison.
Aug. 10, 2007: Broward County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Reyka was shot and killed outside a Walgreens in Pompano Beach. His killer remains at large.
Sept. 28, 2006: Angilo Freeland shot and killed Polk County deputy Matt Williams and his dog after Freeland fled a traffic stop and Williams pursued. Following a 20-hour manhunt, Freeland was shot 68 times and killed. Accounts differ on what triggered the gunfire.
June 1, 2003: Pasco County Sheriff's Lt. Charles "Bo" Harrison was shot and killed. Two days later, Alfredie Steele turned himself in to deputies. He was later convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
March 3, 1998: Haines City police officer Christopher Horner was shot in the back of the head in a cemetery. It was six years before the first of four men was charged with his murder. All four were sentenced to life in prison.
March 8, 1997: Winter Haven police officer Johnnie Patterson was shot and killed by Walter Steven Norris during a traffic stop. Norris was arrested 36 hours later. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1999.
May 6, 1995: Jacksonville police detective Lonnie Miller heard a burglary call while on his way home and went to the scene. As he was preparing to leave, he was shot to death. His killer is still at large.
