Tampa police release pic of what Dontae Morris would look like bald

As the massive manhunt for suspected cop-killer Dontae Morris moves into its fourth day, police have released an image of what Morris could look like if he's tried to change his appearance.

The electronically altered mugshot shows a clean-shaven Morris with extremely close-cropped hair. Morris' image is plastered around Tampa Bay on fliers, billboards and in the media, but police say it's possible he might have tried to change his appearance in an effort to avoid capture by hundreds of searchers spread among 15 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee confirmed today that Morris, a fugitive in the gunning down of two Tampa police officers, is "a prime suspect" in the slaying of a 25-year-old Valrico man last month.

Police also have named Morris a suspect in a May slaying at a Tampa apartment complex and said he may be involved in a fifth homicide, also in Tampa.

"We're going to keep the pressure up in this area and hopefully generate some leads," Gee said.

The intense manhunt for Morris, 24, has continued since early Tuesday, when Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab were slain in East Tampa.

Gee said Morris is a suspect in the drug-related slaying of Harold Wright, 25, of Valrico. Morris was released from state prison in April after serving two years on drug charges.

Wright, a father of four, was found in early June on the side of a Palm River road. He had suffered upper torso trauma, officials said.

"I hope they catch this guy," said Wright's aunt, Claudette Michel. "He's a very dangerous man."

She plans to attend tonight's wake for the two officers.

"I'm going to pay my sympathies," she said. "I know what they're going through. I just went through the same thing."

Michel said Wright's mother was in Tampa at Easter and tearfully pleaded with her son to stop dealing drugs.

"She knew what would happen," Michel said.

At least 200 officers are searching for Morris at any given time, Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.

Investigators have followed nearly 400 leads, including 42 that came in Thursdaynight, Police Chief Jane Castor said.

Fifteen agencies are involved and billboards are up throughout the Southeast. The search for Morris will be featured on the Fox television show "America's Most Wanted" on Saturday.

Investigators believe he has had help eluding capture.
