Police: More human remains found in Pasco

Investigators are trying to determine whether human remains found in Wesley Chapel are those of missing comic book writer Stephen J. Perry.

Zephyrhills police did not provide specifics on the remains, which were discovered about 4 p.m. Wednesdayoff Foamflower Boulevard by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

The Pasco medical examiner's office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will assist Zephyrhills police in identifying the remains.

On May 16, Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies found an arm in a trash bin at the Quality Inn on Bearss Avenue. They also found Perry's van.

Zephyrhills police are awaiting the results of DNA testing on the arm.

Perry, 56, was a writer for the 1980s animated show "Thundercats." Police say he was the victim of an apparent homicide.

He and his roommates, James Davis, 45, and Roxanne Davis, 49, were reported missing under suspicious circumstances almost two weeks ago. The home they shared at 38046 Eighth Ave. in Zephyrhills appeared to have been ransacked.

The Davises since have been arrested on unrelated charges.

Roxanne Davis is being held without bail at the Land O' Lakes Jail on a probation violation charge. Her husband is being held on charges including failure to appear and drug trafficking.

No charges have been filed in Perry's disappearance.

Krystal Carroll, Perry's ex-girlfriend and mother of the couple's 5-year-old son, Leo, said she met with prosecutors this morning in Dade City to talk about the case after receiving a subpoena.

"They asked me a lot of questions about the Davises," Carroll said. "They asked me if I had a relationship with James Davis. They asked me why I left Steve, all kinds of personal things."

Prosecutors, she said, also asked about Perry's PayPal account. PayPal is an online payment service.

"I really didn't know anything about that," she said. "They also asked me whether I found or saw trash bags or gloves or rubber gloves laying around the house while I was there. I never saw anything like that."

Carroll said she told prosecutors she had no relationship with the Davises and did not know what happened to Perry.

The same day ZPD announced the latest news about Perry, Warner Brothers Animation announced that it is producing a new version of the "Thundercats."

"In addition to being Warner Bros. Animation's first anime series, "Thundercats" marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy," according to a studio media release. "The realism and dynamic visual style we've achieved are sure to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should help the show appeal to a diverse audience."

The studio says the announcement about the show, which has been in the works for more than a year, was timed to the upcoming Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas, which features attendees from the worlds of retail, advertising and licensing and 500 exhibitors -- film and TV studios, networks, sports brands and other purveyors of characters
