A Pinellas County sheriff's deputy was arrested this afternoon on charges that, while off-duty, he manhandled his estranged wife while discussing their pending divorce, the sheriff's office said.
George D. Moffett, 39, who has been with the sheriff's office for four years, was charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery.
At about noon Tuesday, Moffett met with his estranged wife to discuss their divorce proceedings, said sheriff's Sgt. Tom Nestor. The two began arguing and, as his estranged wife attempted to leave, Moffett grabbed her on the left arm above the wrist, leaving a visible injury, Nestor said.
