A Wesley Chapel woman was killed in a traffic accident Thursday night at Sligh and Nebraska avenues, said Tampa police.
Sligh between Nebraska Avenue and the Interstate 275 exit ramp are now open for traffic, after investigators had closed the stretch for several hours overnight.
The 9:22 p.m. Thursday accident occurred when a Toyota Matrix driven by Sonia Sofia De Jesus Serrano, 46, heading east on Sligh, crashed into the side of a southbound Nissan Xterra at the Nebraska Avenue intersection, police said. The Toyota came to rest against a HARTline bus, but no one on the bus, including the driver and 12 passengers, was injured.
Investigators said De Jesus Serrano was dead at the scene.
Daniel M. Ray, 37, Spring Hill, was in the Nissan sport-utility vehicle that was involved in the crash. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he was admitted in serious-but-stable condition, investigators said.
