A 38-year-old woman was charged with driving under the influence and three counts of DUI and property damage Monday, after her Dodge Durango crashed on School Road, striking a mailbox and traffic-warning sign before coming to a halt in trees and bushes and catching fire, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Lisa Finley, of 5118 Rushbrook Road, Land O' Lakes, fell in and out of sleep while speaking to a trooper and was at first unable to answer any questions, a highway patrol report said. The incident happened about 3:35 p.m.
A native of England, she eventually said that she thought she was on her way to pick up her 2- and 4-year-old children from day care, the report said.
Finley was released from the Land O' Lakes Jail on Tuesday morning after posting $1,500 bail, jail records show.
