Deputies are searching for a tractor-trailer involved in a fatal wreck on State Road 60 in Lake Wales early today.
Adam Walker, 33, of Westproof died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 4:15 a.m., near the Peace Creek Bridge, west of Lake Wales Road, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Walker was in a 2002 silver Kia Sportage with Heath Whitaker, 33, of Frostproof when it was involved in a crash with what has been described as a dump-style semi-tractor trailer truck. Whitaker was taken to Lake Wales Hospital, but was later taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition.
Deputies are asking for the public's help in locating the truck. The trailer will have significant rear-end damage to including the "push under bar," or bumper bar, as well as, damage to the passenger-side tail lights, the sheriff's office said.
The last letter on its white-and-blue tag may be a "G." The trailer may possibly be a Mate, Travis, or Hardee-style trailer.
The truck was last seen traveling east on S.R. 60.
