A woman was found dead in a car this morning in Winter Haven, the victim of a homicide, Polk County deputies said
About 2 a.m., a boyfriend and girlfriend who are roommates of Alicia Nicole McDonald, 22, awoke to use the restroom and found blood in the house they share in the 900 block of Sunshine Way SW. They also found McDonald and her vehicle were missing.
The roommates spent the next two hours searching for McDonald and making phone calls. Their attempts unsuccessful, they drove to the Winter Haven Police Department at 4 a.m. to report her missing. The police issued an alert with a description of her vehicle, a blue 2007 Suzuki Forenza.
About 5:15 p.m., a Polk County deputy found the vehicle at the end of a cul-de-sac on Varner Drive. He discovered McDonald's body in the passenger seat.
An autopsy is being conducted.
