A man suspected in the slaying of his girlfriend in Pennsylvania was arrested at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Broward County.
An officer spotted 32-year-old Edwin Carrero acting suspiciously in a car early Tuesday outside the casino, Seminole Tribe police spokesman Gary Bitner said.
A record's check revealed the car and its tag were stolen, Bitner told the Sun-Sentinel newspaper. The car was registered to Alicia Schmidt of Pottstown, Pa., who was found dead Thursday in that state.
Police said they discovered Schmidt's body after Carrero told his ex-wife that he "may have killed Alicia."
Carrero was booked into the Broward County jail on a charge of grand theft auto with bail set at $1,000. He is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, where he faces first- and third-degree murder charges.
