Kelly Seeley and Tylene Headley believe they have found their perfect niche in the ever-growing world of spas.
Seeley, the former owner of SerenBe Day Spa in Temple Terrace, and Headley, an ex-insurance industry manager who used her skills to help market Seeley's business, have launched a company they say is unlike any other in the Tampa Bay area.
It is spa50.com, a Web site meant to make the spa experience, one that for years many have viewed as a luxury, an affordable component of an average person's healthy lifestyle.
Free memberships include periodic $50 packages and other specials at participating spas, discounts on products, recipes for at-home treatments and a monthly newsletter that features articles on topics such as how stress affects the overall health of women.
"Each month we'll offer different products and provide information for people to implement," Headley said.
The Web site will also contain a directory of spas that encompass the greater Tampa Bay area.
"It gives spa owners who sign on one more avenue to advertise themselves, and it provides them with the opportunity to have more traffic," said Seeley, a Temple Terrace resident. She and Headley hope not only to grow the business locally but also to expand it to other parts of the country.
"It's also a one-stop shop for spagoers," said Headley, a resident of New Tampa.
Charlee Hall, owner of the SerenBe spa, plans to sign on with spa50.com. She is celebrating its launch with a late March free drawing for a "stillness" package valued at $190.
"I want to support Kelly and Tylene's business," she said. "I think it's a great way for people to find out about spas in the area and to show the importance of taking good care of themselves."
Wendy Rose, assistant spa director at Saddlebrook Resort, is also hoping the new Web site will generate a lot of traffic.
"We're going to test it because we're always up for new marketing ideas, especially in these economic times," she said. "We think it's a great concept, and it's nice to be able to offer our clients and potential clients specials throughout the year."
