The University Area Community Social Services Center Advisory Board is seeking residents who live near the University of South Florida to serve as board members.
The board works with the center, 13605 N. 22nd St., to provide opportunities for families. Board members are required to live, work or volunteer in the service area. However, almost all current members are social services providers in the area.
Board members will recruit candidates through agencies. They hope to get someone who also eventually would be a representative to the countywide social services board, called the Hillsborough County Community Action Board.
Lucious Davis, the center's manager, said it's often difficult to find people who can attend meetings during the work day, have transportation to the meetings and have child care, if they have small children.
