Change is good.
So says Mel Jurado, president of the Temple Terrace Woman's Club, who is thrilled to tout the organization's inaugural Holiday Extravaganza slated for Monday.
The event is replacing its Spring Boutique, the group's annual longtime signature fundraiser, and is being billed as a shopping opportunity for both men and women because it will have "something for everyone."
"It's a great time for people to get a jump start on their Christmas shopping and it's nice that we can invite our husbands," Jurado said.
A variety of boutique-quality items for men, women and children will be for sale, including jewelry created by a Saks Fifth Avenue jeweler.
There also will be a high-end silent auction, with items such as a baby grand piano and a get-away package to a North Carolina beach house.
Hors d' oeuvres and complimentary champagne will be served; a cash bar will be available.
All proceeds will benefit Temple Terrace area schools.
"This event is obviously a new venture for us and it will be a very nice affair," said committee member Norma Jean Moore. "We're hoping to attract a lot of men, too."
