The teens danced, climbed and consumed pizza at the first Teen Bash.
The free event on May 21 at the University Area Community Center, 14013 N. 22nd St., included exhibits by nonprofit organizations, door prizes, a rock-climbing tower and contests such as Hula-Hula Hoops.
Hip-hop talent including Dynasty; True: Gammage, Avari and C-dot; and J'Nelle performed.
The event was designed to showcase the Prodigy Cultural Arts Program staff, which offers free visual and performing arts classes to at-risk children and youth in the community.
This summer's program runs from June 11 to Aug. 22 and includes break, drum-line, jazz and hip-hop dancing, comics, guitar, studio art, media art and theater. It is open to students ages 7 to 17 who meet at least two of four criteria on the application form.
