Town 'N Country opened with a convincing 13-2 victory against Los Mochis, Mexico, at the Colt World Series on Thursday in Lafayette, Ind., as Thomas Dorminy hit a two-run homer and Jacob Hubbell hit a solo shot in a 10-run fifth inning.
Dorminy also had a strong outing on the mound, as he carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning. There, though, he ran into control issues, walking in a pair of runs, before Hubbell came in to record the final out.
Ahead 3-0 through four innings, Tyler Ding opened the scoring in the fifth when he came home on a balk. Matt Brandy then doubled, and came home on Dorminy's homer, the first of the tournament. Hubbell's solo homer then gave Town 'N Country an 8-0 lead as Mexico's pitchers struggled to keep TC's runners off the basepaths.
Town 'N Country will face host Lafayette at 7:30 tonight in what will be the second game for both sides. Lafayette lost its opening game of the tournament 5-4 to Gurabo, Puerto Rico, on Wednesday night.
