After spending a month of learning about farms, animals and what they do for agriculture, students at Independent Day School-Corbett Campus received a hands-on lesson.
Nine teachers worked together to host the Fall Fun on the Farm for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students and their families on Oct. 26.
Students had the opportunity to pet and feed a horse and pet rabbits, chickens and sheep. They could also take a hay ride, which involved them counting how many stuffed animals they saw along the ride.
Blankets with some of the books the students have been reading for the last month were available for students to share with their parents. And the students could carve a pumpkin to take home or dance a hoedown.
"This is the culmination of our unit," said Marla Vildostegui, kindergarten teacher. "We really wanted to bring the farm to the students."
Vildostegui said every year teachers come together to host an event that brings what the students have learned into perspective.
