CARROLLWOOD South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers is celebrating the relocation of a popular bicycle event to Flatwoods Wilderness Park.
The Bicycle Bash, which was previously at St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park, will take place Nov. 7.
"It's a really big move for us," said Alan Snel, director of SWFBUD, the bicycle advocacy group. "It was successful in St. Petersburg, but to take it to the next level we needed to have live bicycle activities with the bicycle exhibitor village."
To celebrate the relocation, bicycle club and group members received an invitation to an announcement party on March 25 at the Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium, 14407-B N. Dale Mabry Highway. Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation staff and Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe, who assisted with the relocation, will be at the event.
Snel said that he was inspired to add the different cycling activities after a trip to last year's Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, Calif.
"They have loads of bicycle activities and the synergy is fantastic," Snel said. "I came back real excited about growing the bash."
This year's Bicycle Bash will include mountain and road cycling events, the Cure on Wheels charity bike ride, which will raise money for cancer research, as well as the exhibitor and vendor village.
