Rare Grit That Saved Two Girls

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Heroes come in many forms, though most work too far from camera range for most of us to notice.

One person who did something noticeably heroic last week was 27-year-old Sharonda Wilson, who rescued two young girls being chased by a man who approached them at a school bus stop. Seeing the girls running, Wilson stopped her car and told them to get in. If that wasn't brave enough, she then confronted the man, drawing the attention of a passing police officer who arrested him.

'We're very grateful to this Good Samaritan for providing safety and shelter to these two girls,' said Maj. George McNamara of the Tampa Police Department.

Indeed we are. It took caring and courage for Wilson to help two young strangers in peril. Perhaps you think you'd have done the same thing in similar circumstances, but heroics are easier said than done.

Law-abiding citizens can help law enforcement rid our neighborhoods of no-good criminals. Sharonda Wilson showed one way to do it. She deserves the gratitude of our entire community.
