I applaud Tampa City Councilwoman Linda Saul-Sena in her attempt to make code enforcement charge daily fees for the gross negligence of the owners of our once-beloved Kress building in downtown Tampa.
It has become an eyesore in the downtown area, and there is no excuse for it. I am basing my opinion on what has occurred in beautiful downtown Orlando and Sarasota with their Kress buildings.
They have been beautifully transformed into usable and striking buildings that house a multitude of businesses, while maintaining their original facades.
Enough is enough. It is past time for the owners to restore the Kress building into one that people in Tampa can be proud of, and that includes the entire building, down to street level.
