Regarding "A state immigration law could hurt Bay tourism" (Business, July 23): Assuming reporter Shannon Behnken quoted Paul Catoe correctly, I take exception to the statement that such a law, properly administered, would do any harm to our tourism industry. In my opinion, stopping the flow of illegal aliens would save money better spent on the needs of American taxpayers.
Additionally, not all border crossings are being made by "those poor souls seeking to improve themselves." An unknown number of these folks have sworn an oath to do all that they can do within their power to kill Americans. This concerns me greatly.
People in this country illegally are costing American taxpayers an estimated $300 billion a year in funding for services and health care and in criminal acts. All area and state tourism needs is one incident of a tourist injured or killed by an illegal alien, and Catoe will have all the negative impact on tourism he can handle.
