Mind-bending. Is anyone surprised by the headline "Area has 9-year homesite inventory?" (front page, July 27).
The last decade still rings with the loud cry of Hillsborough County citizens encouraging, pleading with and demanding county commissioners to dislodge themselves from the deep pockets of greedy developers who, full-steam ahead, won them over in disregarding the concerns, warnings and wishes of their constituents.
So now we blame it all on a "building boom" and a "lackluster economy?" Tony Polito suggests an improving economy is needed. I suggest our elected officials need to stop bowing down to our new god, "The Economy," and improve their hearing and acquiescence to the outcries of the citizens they represent.
