TAMPA A 42-year-old man is in critical condition after a high-speed motorcycle crash in Winter Haven this morning.
According to the Winter Haven Police Department, James Blanford was taken by helicopter to Lakeland Regional Medical Center after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a curb at 2:46 a.m. He was driving eastbound on Cypress Gardens Boulevard near 10th Street Southeast when the crash happened.
His passenger, Jessica Dale, 34, was taken by ambulance to LRMC. She was in stable condition when she left the accident scene.
WHPD spokeswoman Jamie Brown said police don't know how fast Blanford was going, but that Dale told investigators he was speeding.
Police say neither Blanford nor Dale were wearing helmets.
