A felon with a lengthy arrest record is wanted in a playground shooting that wounded a 20-year-old man, one of three shootings within about a week in Wesley Chapel.
Cesario Acosta III, of Zephyrhills, is being sought on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office announced today.
Investigators said Acosta, 30, shot the victim in the abdomen when the two men met for a prescription drug deal Tuesday night at the Ashley Pines community playground near Smith Road and Ashley Pines Place.
Acosta, who is considered armed and dangerous, most recently was arrested in Pasco on June 14 on a marijuana charge, jail records show. He was released the next day after posting bail.
Acosta has served time in state prison on cocaine and grand theft charges, records show.
The shooting came a day after a Wesley Chapel man was shot in the face while selling prescription drugs from his home, deputies said.
A masked man burst into the Eastport Drive home of Raymond D. Platt, 41, about 9:25 p.m. Monday. Platt was shot during a struggle, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
No arrests have been made in the incident.
