Artists and craftsmen displayed their work at the 2012 Suncoast Arts Fest at The Shops at Wiregrass during the weekend.
Highlights included:
- speed painter Tim Decker, who did a portrait of the late Beatle John Lennon in less than seven minutes;
- children exploring their creative side in the Kids Art Garden;
- students from Contempo School of Dance doing their best imitation of a flash mob, bursting from the crowd to perform;
- and chalk artists creating impressive art on pavement.
Organizers for Fine Arts of the Suncoast, the nonprofit organization behind the seventh annual Suncoast Arts Fest, brought the event to The Shops at Wiregrass in 2009. Positioned on the calendar to be the region's lead-off art event of the year, Arts Fest has benefitted from its ahead-of-season scheduling and draws many of the best artists and craftspeople from across the state.
Suncoast Arts Fest was founded in part to be a fundraiser for the Fine Arts of the Suncoast's Arts for Kids program, which provides financial support for arts education in Pasco County schools.
