DNA Used To Identify Body Found March 5 In Dade City

DADE CITY - The woman whose decomposed body was found in an abandoned house March 5 was identified Thursday as Penny L. Skipper, 44, whose last known address was 38532 Cummer Road, the Dade City Police Department said.

The identity was determined through DNA evidence with help from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, a news release states.

The body was discovered under a mattress in a bedroom of a house at 14735 Fifth St. that had been abandoned for several years, the release states. Police found the body while assisting the Pasco County Sheriff's Office in a search for someone in an unrelated incident.

Members of Skipper's family in Tampa said they had not had contact with her in the past 18 months, the release states.
