Where in Pasco County can a person buy quality computer equipment for as low as $1 while also benefiting a good cause?
The Geek Sale will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Saturday at the East Pasco Habitat For Humanity ReStore at the Dade City Business Center, 14940 Citrus Country Drive.
At the sale, which will benefit the homebuilding efforts of East Pasco Habitat For Humanity, shoppers can pick up keyboards and mice for about $1 each, and printers, scanners and fax machines in the $2 to $5 range.
A limited number of personal computers with flat screens attached will be available for $50 to $100.
"All of our profits go toward building homes," said Niki Trapnell, manager of the East Pasco Habitat For Humanity ReStore. "And the ReStore is sponsoring a Habitat house this year."
This house, which has been under construction since Memorial Day weekend, is at 37318 Main Ave. in Dade City.
Aside from benefiting the construction of Habitat homes, the Geek Sale will offer new and used computer merchandise.
"Some people donate new printers, for example, because they don't want to have to buy ink cartridges," Trapnell said.
"Part of our purpose here is to recycle and reuse," she said. "Instead of dumping these items in a landfill, we're selling them at a reasonable price so they can be used."
