A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the Christmas Eve robbery of a Spring Hill credit union, authorities say.
Jerome Simmons, 21, was picked up in Fort Lauderdale during the weekend, said Sgt. Donna Black, spokeswoman for the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Black had few details but said Simmons was found hiding in a meat locker. Simmons, of 1319 N.W. Seventh St., Fort Lauderdale, had yet to be returned to Hernando County as of this morning, Black said. He has been charged with one count of armed robbery. His bail is set at $50,000.
Three other people were arrested in Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 30 and charged with armed robbery. Authorities tracked down Richard C. Harris, 21, of Hudson, and Jerald Davis, 22, and Tommy Lee Benton, 49, both of Fort Lauderdale, after Harris' stepfather went to police.
Three of the men entered the Tampa Postal Federal Credit Union on Deltona Boulevard wearing ski masks and brandishing handguns, according to affidavits. They got away with more than $88,000 cash, according to the affidavits.
