For three months, Dawn Marie Perry's 81-year-old grandmother fed her prescription drug habit - only she didn't know it, according to Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Perry, of 7436 Carmel Avenue, was arrested Tuesday at the home she shares with her grandmother, accused of stealing her grandmother's checks, writing checks on her account without her grandmother's permission, and using her credit cards without her knowing it.
Perry, 38, was booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail on one count petit theft, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and nine counts each of forgery and uttering a forged instrument. Bail is set at $46,150.
Deputies say Perry cashed several of her grandmother's checks that she wrote for $200 a piece. She also used two different credit cards, charging about $4,200 on one and nearly $18,000 on another, according to reports.
Perry reportedly admitted to using her grandmother's money to support her addition to the painkillers oxycodone and Roxicodone.
Perry's grandmother noticed the checks had been cashed and that the credit cards had been used and notified authorities Feb. 12.
