The owner of a local garbage collection company died Thursday night when the truck he was working on ran over him.
John D. Parker, of J.D. Parker & Sons, was working under a 2001 International garbage truck doing maintenance when the truck started to roll and ran right over him at the shop, at 6724 U.S. 19, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before midnight.
Parker was 68.
